Operations Overview

Flexovit USA cut the ribbon on a brand new abrasive wheel manufacturing facility, located in western New York State, during the summer of 1977. In April of 1995 the Flexovit USA plant received ISO 9002 Certification for its quality system, the first such certification for a North American abrasive wheel manufacturer. In July of the same year the factory was struck by fire, resulting in almost complete destruction of the manufacturing areas. Reorganized into a multi-disciplinary rebuilding team, Flexovit staff worked around the clock to construct an interim manufacturing facility. The first product was made and shipped within 8 weeks of the blaze. By spring of 1998 finishing touches were being put on Flexovit’s new plant. The manufacturing complex was doubled in size, incorporating 100,000 sq. ft. between two buildings. It includes the first fully automated bond mixing system in North America, expanded and improved press, packing, and shipping departments, upgraded fiberglass coating and cutting lines, enlarged lab and product testing areas, a new training center, and an engineering department for development and fabrication of proprietary manufacturing processes and equipment. In 2003 Flexovit USA achieved ISO 9001: 2000 Certification.

Flexovit deploys a team of highly trained Technical Sales Representatives across North America, whose mandate is to reduce abrasives cost on your shop floor. They stand ready to assist with evaluation of your processes and abrasive product requirements. Flexovit has also established an array of tools, including objective testing regimens, state of the art technical support facilities, and an extensive training program all designed to assit users of Flexovit products to maximize their productivity:

• Testing - A program of on-site testing of Flexovit products clearly and precisely designed to provide objective evaluation of the productivity of your abrasives application.
• Technical Support - From our state of the art Testing Laboratories, Flexovit’s Technical Director and his team stand ready to test specific applications and offer up-to-date solutions.
• Flexovit Plant Training - For qualified abrasive users and distributor representatives, Flexovit offers regularly scheduled training seminars at the factory. Classroom seminars offer in depth discussions of raw materials, abrasive wheel construction, Flexovit product applications, and selling skills. Best of all, attendees are given the opportunity to receive ‘hands-on’ grinding and cutting training in our testing facility. By seeing Flexovit wheels in action and comparing our products with top competitors, participants see first hand how Flexovit stands up to the competition.
• On Site Training - Flexovit offers on-site training seminars for abrasive users, and Flexovit distributors. Tailored to the needs of your group, these sessions can focus on product applications, safety, or other topics of interest, and can include ‘hands-on’ sessions.
